NEWS FOR THE 2007 MIROCK RACING SEASON

The “silly season” has already started with much rumor and misinformation.  While many details have yet to be decided, the following is for sure.  The 2007 MIROCK Series will remain a 7-race series run exclusively at Maryland International Raceway and Rockingham Dragway.  Outlaw Pro Street and Pro Sportbike will remain MIROCK’s two feature points earning Pro classes along with Sportsman Quick 32.
The most significant rule change for 2007 is the banning of turbos in Outlaw Pro Street as previously announced.  While other small rule changes may still be approved, they will be minor tweaks as needed and will soon be  posted along with next years schedule.
MIROCK promoters Royce Miller and Steve Earwood have given permission to explore the addition of an exhibition only non-points earning class tentatively called “NoBar Extreme”.  The conditions to be met before this class is added are a signed sponsor to pay all purses for the class with a three-year commitment and a set of rules to be approved by MIROCK.  As of the writing of this press release, none of these conditions have been met.  Although this exhibition class is still a possibility, there is still some question at this time.  Please stay in touch with mirockracing.com for more official news and info about the 2007 MIROCK season as details are finalized.

LAST RACE OF THE YEAR THIS WEEKEND AT ROCKINGHAM DRAGWAY

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – Astride a turbo charged Suzuki that's headed to extinction in the MiRock Superbike Series, Rodney Williford tries to end the abbreviated Turbo Era on a positive note this week when he sends his 200 mile-an-hour hybrid after the Outlaw Pro Street title in the Lee's Fall Bike Nationals at Rockingham Dragway.

Heavily-favored to claim his third consecutive victory in the MiRock Series and, with it, the 2006 Schnitz Outlaw Pro Street championship, Williford nevertheless will face challenges from reigning MiRock champion Tony Girardi of Hollywood, Fla., rising star Ralph Medrano Jr. of Miami, Fla., and Angie McBride of Lewisville, N.C.  - MORE

MIROCK SERIES TO DROP TURBOS IN OUTLAW PRO STREET IN 2007

Promoters of the Mickey Thompson MIRock Superbike Series announced Friday that turbo-equipped bikes will be banned in the Schnitz Racing Outlaw Pro Street Class in 2007.This will not affect the MIRock Fast by Gast Finals at Maryland International Raceway on October 7-8 or the Lee’s Performance Fall Bike Nationals at Rockingham Dragway on November 11-12.

This decision comes after much consideration and research by track owner Steve Earwood of Rockingham and Royce Miller of Maryland in an effort to create parity in the top category.

2006 MIROCK FBR SHOP SPRING OPEN AT ROCKINGHAM DRAGWAY

ROCKINGHAM, NC - Jeff Nordeen of Simpsonville, S.C., beat No. 1 qualifier and two-time reigning MiRock Superbike Series champion Tony Girardi of Hollywood, Fla., in the final round Sunday to win the featured Outlaw Pro Street title in the FBR Shop Spring Open at Steve Earwood’s Rockingham Dragway.

Despite Girardi’s credentials, it would be  inaccurate to characterize Nordeen’s victory as an upset.  The South  Carolina rider qualified second and, after easing past Frank Halmon of  Hendersonville, N.C., in round one, posted the quickest time in every subsequent  round.
