REIGNING CHAMPIONS EYE START OF 2007 MIROCK SUPERBIKE SERIES

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – Rodney Williford, Anthony Navarro, and Robin Procopio are expected to open defense of their respective titles when the 2007 Mickey Thompson Performance Tires MiRock Superbike Series begins March 24-25 at Steve Earwood’s Rockingham Dragway.

One of the nation’s most successful

independent motorcycle racing competitions, the MiRock Series this year will consist of seven races, four at Rockingham Dragway and three at Maryland International Raceway.

Willford, a veteran rider from Rougemont, N.C., faces the most daunting challenge insomuch as the all-conquering turbocharged Suzuki he drove last year for Jeff Nordeen no longer is legal to compete in the Schnitz Racing Outlaw Pro Street category.

That change will insure a wide open Pro Street battle that should include female sensation Angie McBride of Lewisville, N.C., rising star Ralph Medrano Jr. of Miami, Fla., and two-time past champion Tony Girardi of Hollywood, Fla., along with Williford, Nordeen and a host of other MiRock regulars.

Navarro made the trek from Royersford, Pa., to turn back all comers last year in the Orient Express Pro Sport Bike class and will be the favorite entering the season-opening Velocity Racing Spring Bike Open at The Rock.

Navarro will face a familiar cast of characters including national record-holder Jason Miller of Mechanicsville, Md., Dimey Eddinger of Winston-Salem, N.C., Steve Jester of Salisburg, Md., Vincent Demito of Collegeville, Pa., and former champion Mike Slowe of Bensalem, Pa.

After the Rockingham opener, the 2007 series will move to MIR for races on June 2-3 and July 28-29 before returning to The Rock for the annual Schnitz Summer Sizzler on Aug. 25-26.  MIR will host its final race on Sept. 8-9 before the fifth season closes at Rockingham with the FBR Shop Nationals, Oct. 6-7, and the Lee’s Performance Fall Bike Nationals, Nov. 17-18.
